Tata Aeris Launched, Priced From Rs. 5.29 Lakh

Tata has launched the all-new Aeris, a compact sedan aimed specifically at private car buyers. Prices start at Rs 5.29 lakh for the petrol version and Rs 6.29 lakh for the iCNG version, ex-showroom Delhi.

The Aeris is interesting because Tata is not positioning it as a car for both private buyers and fleet operators. The company says the sedan has been designed exclusively for personal and family use.

This is a slightly different approach in a segment where compact sedans have traditionally had to serve both private customers and fleet operators. According to Tata, personal buyers account for nearly 65% of the compact sedan segment, but have largely had to choose cars that also cater to fleet requirements. The company says fleet customers will continue to be addressed through the Xpres-T brand, while the Aeris will remain focused on private buyers. This gives the new sedan its own design, features and positioning.

Its design gets a wide and planted stance, LED headlamps and DRLs, a wide lower grille and diamond-cut aero alloy wheels. At the rear, the sedan gets connected LED tail lamps, while a prominent deck lid gives it a more distinctive profile. There is also a dual-tone black roof, textured wheel-arch cladding and chrome-line door handles, giving the Aeris a more contemporary look.

Inside, Tata has focused on making the cabin feel more premium. The Aeris gets ventilated leatherette seats, a dual-screen layout, a 26.03cm HD touchscreen infotainment system and a 12.7cm digital instrument cluster. It also gets features such as wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless charging, automatic climate control, rear AC vents and 65W Type-C fast chargers. The 419-litre boot also makes it practical enough for everyday family use.

The Aeris gets Tata’s iRA connected car technology with more than 35 connected features. A dual smartphone deck with wireless charging is another feature aimed at making the cabin more convenient for daily use. The Aeris comes with six airbags as standard, along with Electronic Stability Program, ABS with EBD and CSC, Hill Hold Control and ISOFIX mounts. The car also gets a 360-degree HD camera with 2D and 3D views, a Blind View Monitor and a MultiView Digital Video Recorder. Other features include automatic headlamps, rain-sensing wipers and a rear defogger.

The iCNG versions also get additional safety measures, including leak detection, leak-proof materials, thermal incident protection and rear crash protection.

The Aeris is available with both petrol and CNG powertrains, giving buyers more flexibility. The petrol version uses a 1.2-litre Revotron engine and is offered with a 5-speed manual as well as an AMT. The CNG version is available with both manual and AMT options. The iCNG AMT is particularly notable, as it combines the running-cost benefits of CNG with the convenience of an automatic gearbox. Tata has also used twin-cylinder iCNG technology, which helps package the CNG system while retaining usable boot space.

The Aeris is available in five trims – Smart, Pure, Pure+, Creative and Accomplished.

Petrol prices start at Rs 5.29 lakh and go up to Rs 8.19 lakh for the manual, while the AMT ranges from Rs 6.69 lakh to Rs 8.74 lakh.

The CNG range starts at Rs 6.29 lakh for the manual and goes up to Rs 9.19 lakh. The CNG AMT is priced between Rs 7.69 lakh and Rs 9.74 lakh.
