Renault Triber Turbo Launched, Priced From Rs. 7.84 Lakhs

Renault has expanded the Triber lineup in India with the introduction of the new Triber Turbo, which is priced between Rs. 7.84 lakhs and Rs. 8.99 lakhs (ex-showroom). The new version features a turbocharged petrol engine, offering higher torque than the naturally aspirated model.

The Triber Turbo is available in two variants: Evolution Turbo and Techno Turbo, along with the range-topping Emotion Turbo. Prices for the turbo-petrol version are between Rs. 94,000 and Rs. 1.11 lakhs higher than those of the corresponding naturally aspirated variants.

Renault Triber Turbo Engine and Performance

The Renault Triber Turbo is powered by a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine, internally referred to as HR10. The same engine family is used in the Renault Kiger and Duster 1.0-litre SUVs.

In the Triber Turbo, the engine produces 100 HP and 180 Nm of torque. While the power output remains identical to that of the Kiger and Duster, the Triber receives a revised engine management system that allows it to deliver higher torque.

Renault claims the Triber Turbo can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/hr in 10.8 seconds. At launch, the engine is paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox. An automatic transmission option is expected to be introduced at a later stage.

Renault Triber Turbo Exterior Design

The Renault Triber Turbo retains the exterior styling of the standard petrol-powered model, with no major visual changes. The front features a gloss-black grille carrying Renault’s updated logo, along with LED headlamps and LED daytime running lights.

The front bumper incorporates a large air dam with a silver surround, while fog lamps are positioned at the outer edges. The side profile features 15-inch wheels with dual-tone covers, roof rails, and gloss-black door handles and ORVMs.

At the rear, the MPV gets clear-lens LED tail-lamps connected by a gloss-black trim element. A ‘Turbo’ badge on the tailgate distinguishes the new version from the naturally aspirated model.

Renault Triber Turbo Interior and Features

The Triber Turbo retains the standard model’s seven-seat layout and feature list. The cabin comes equipped with an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, along with a 7-inch digital instrument cluster.

Other features include a wireless phone charger, automatic climate control, a separate rear blower control, a cooled centre storage compartment, automatic headlamps and wipers, a rear washer and wiper, cruise control, and push-button start/stop.

Renault claims the Triber offers 625 litres of boot space with the third row folded, making it suitable for carrying luggage when the rear seats are not in use.

Renault Triber Turbo Safety Features

The Renault Triber Turbo comes equipped with six airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control (ESC), traction control, hill-start assist, Isofix child-seat mounts, and a tyre-pressure monitoring system (TPMS).

Renault has also recalibrated the ABS, ESC and traction control systems for the turbo-petrol version. The standard Triber has previously received a four-star safety rating in Global NCAP crash tests.

Renault Triber Turbo: Competition and Positioning

The Renault Triber continues to occupy a relatively niche position in India’s compact MPV segment, offering a seven-seat configuration in a compact footprint. The introduction of a turbo-petrol engine adds a more powerful option to the lineup, although buyers will have to pay a premium over the naturally aspirated versions.

The Nissan Gravite is another model in this segment. Whether Nissan will introduce a turbo-petrol powertrain for the Gravite remains unclear.
