Maruti e Vitara exports

Maruti Suzuki India has exported more than 50,000 electric vehicles since starting overseas shipments from its Hansalpur manufacturing facility in Gujarat in August 2025. The company currently ships its electric vehicles to around 50 countries, with Europe accounting for the largest share of its export markets.

According to the company, Maruti Suzuki contributed approximately 93 percent of India’s electric vehicle exports between April and September 2026, based on data from the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM). It also held the position of India’s largest EV exporter in FY2025-26 and maintained its lead in the first half of FY2026-27.

Hansalpur plant plays a key role in EV production

The Hansalpur facility in Gujarat is Maruti Suzuki’s sole manufacturing base for its electric vehicles. The plant recently expanded its annual production capacity to one million units, becoming the first Suzuki manufacturing facility to achieve this scale at a single location.

The expanded capacity could support the company’s efforts to cater to overseas demand while continuing to serve the domestic market. However, the long-term trajectory of its EV exports will depend on demand across individual markets, regulatory requirements and competition from other electric vehicle manufacturers.

Maruti Suzuki e Vitara and Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella exported

Maruti Suzuki’s electric vehicle export programme currently includes the e Vitara, a mid-size electric SUV manufactured at Hansalpur. The same facility also produces the Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella, which shares its underlying platform and is sold under Toyota’s branding.

The e Vitara is offered with 49kWh and 61kWh battery pack options in India, while the Urban Cruiser Ebella is available with the 61kWh battery pack. Their stated starting prices are Rs 15.99 lakh and Rs 23.6 lakh, respectively.

International markets for the e Vitara include the UK, Norway, Germany, Japan and Switzerland. Shipping vehicles to multiple regions gives Maruti Suzuki access to markets beyond India, although the company’s export performance will ultimately depend on how well its products meet local pricing, customer preferences and regulatory requirements.

The 50,000-unit milestone marks an early stage in Maruti Suzuki’s international electric vehicle expansion. Its continued performance will offer a clearer indication of the company’s ability to establish a sustained presence in global EV markets.
