Maruti Suzuki Cars To Get Costlier By Up To Rs. 20,000/-

Maruti Suzuki has announced another price increase for select vehicles, with prices set to rise by up to Rs. 20,000 from September. This marks the carmaker’s third price revision in four months and takes the maximum cumulative increase announced by the company this year to as much as Rs. 80,000, depending on the model and variant.

The latest revision was disclosed by Maruti Suzuki in a regulatory filing. The company attributed the increase to continued inflationary pressures and an unfavourable cost environment, while stating that it has attempted to absorb part of the additional costs through internal cost-reduction measures.

The carmaker had previously announced price increases of up to Rs. 30,000 in June and another hike of up to Rs. 30,000 from August. The latest adjustment is therefore the third such revision within a four-month period.

Maruti Suzuki price hike: what has changed

The September increase will not be uniform across Maruti Suzuki’s entire range. The company has said that prices of selected models will increase by up to Rs. 20,000, meaning the actual revision will depend on the vehicle and variant.

Maruti Suzuki’s current portfolio ranges from the S-Presso to the Invicto, with ex-showroom prices spanning approximately Rs. 3.49 lakh to Rs. 28.8 lakhs. The company is expected to provide the model-wise impact of the latest revision separately.

The frequency of the price increases is notable, particularly as Maruti has traditionally made major price revisions around the start of the calendar year. Its previous major increase before the current series was announced in April 2025, when prices were raised by up to Rs. 62,000 across its range.

Other carmakers have also raised prices

Maruti Suzuki’s latest move comes amid a broader trend of manufacturers increasing vehicle prices to offset higher input and operating expenses.

Mahindra & Mahindra raised prices across its SUV range by an average of 2.7% from July 10, following an increase of up to 2.5% in April. Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles increased prices of its internal-combustion and electric models by up to 1.5% from July 1, after raising prices of its ICE range by 0.5% in April.

Hyundai Motor India has also implemented two price increases this year, while Kia India and JSW MG Motor India raised prices by up to 2% and 3%, respectively, from July.

The luxury car market has seen similar revisions. Mercedes-Benz India has increased prices twice this year, while BMW Group India has implemented three price hikes across its BMW and MINI portfolios.

For buyers, the repeated revisions mean that vehicle prices are moving higher even as manufacturers prepare for the traditionally stronger festive-season sales period. The latest increase could add further pressure to purchase costs, particularly for customers considering models at the lower end of the market.
