Mercedes-AMG G 63 Offroad PRO Launched, Priced At Rs 3.80 Crore

Mercedes-Benz has launched the new AMG G 63 Offroad PRO in India, priced at Rs 3.80 crore (ex-showroom). It is a more rugged version of the G 63 and comes with several upgrades aimed at improving its off-road ability. The SUV will be available in limited numbers.

The G 63 Offroad PRO keeps the familiar boxy G-Class design but gets a more aggressive front bumper, flared wheel arches and new off-road-focused equipment. It also gets a special roof luggage rack with aluminium panels and a removable rear ladder, making it easier to carry luggage and adventure equipment.

The biggest upgrade is the AMG ACTIVE RIDE CONTROL suspension. It has been designed to improve stability and wheel movement when driving over rough and uneven terrain. The SUV also gets AMG Traction PRO and AMG Active Balance Control modes.

AMG Traction PRO is designed for difficult surfaces such as sand and rocks. It can control braking at each wheel individually to help the G 63 find traction when stuck. The Active Balance Control system allows the driver to adjust the suspension according to the terrain. The SUV gets exclusive 20-inch AMG alloy wheels finished in matte black, wrapped in 275/50 R20 tyres.

Power comes from a 4.0-litre V8 biturbo petrol engine with a 48V mild-hybrid system. It produces 585 hp and 850 Nm of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels through AMG Performance 4MATIC all-wheel drive. The G 63 Offroad PRO can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 4.4 seconds and has a top speed of 240 km/h.

Inside, it remains as luxurious as any other G 63. The cabin gets Nappa leather upholstery, premium materials and ambient lighting. There is also a 12.3-inch infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, USB-C connectivity and augmented-reality navigation.

The SUV also gets a dedicated off-road display that shows information such as the vehicle’s position, compass, altitude, steering angle, tyre pressure and temperature. A Transparent Hood function is also available to help the driver when tackling difficult terrain. Other features include a Burmester 3D surround sound system, active brake assist, lane-keeping assist and a 360-degree camera.
