Mahindra XUV 7XO Scores 5-Star Rating In Bharat NCAP

The Mahindra XUV 7XO has scored a 5-star safety rating in Bharat NCAP for both adult and child occupant protection. It scored 30.76 out of 32 points for adult protection and 44.97 out of 49 points for child protection.

Bharat NCAP tested the 7-seater AX7 diesel-automatic in both FWD and AWD versions. The rating, however, applies to all variants of the XUV 7XO.

Adult occupant protection: 30.76/32

The XUV 7XO scored 14.76/16 in the frontal offset crash test and a full 16/16 in the side movable barrier test.

In the frontal crash, most of the important areas of the driver and co-driver received good protection. The chest and tibia of the driver, along with the tibia of the co-driver, were rated as receiving adequate protection.

The SUV performed particularly well in the side impact test, with all critical areas receiving good protection. It also received an ‘OK’ rating in the side pole impact test.

Child occupant protection: 44.97/49

The XUV 7XO also performed strongly in the child protection tests. It scored 23.97/24 in dynamic child protection, 12/12 for child-seat installation and 9/13 in the vehicle assessment.

The test used child dummies representing 18-month-old and 3-year-old children. Both were placed in rear-facing child seats. The 3-year-old dummy scored a full 8/8 in the frontal crash, while the 18-month-old dummy scored 7.97/8. Both scored a full 4/4 in the side impact test.

The XUV 7XO comes with six airbags, ESC, traction control, hill-hold and hill-descent assist, and ISOFIX child-seat mounts as standard. Higher variants also get features such as a 360-degree camera, Level 2 ADAS and TPMS.

The XUV 7XO’s predecessor, the XUV700, had also scored 5 stars for adult protection in Global NCAP’s 2021 crash test, but received 4 stars for child protection.

Overall, the XUV 7XO continues Mahindra’s strong safety record, with a full 5-star Bharat NCAP rating for both adult and child occupant protection.
