Kia Sorento Revealed For India Ahead Of September 4 Launch

Kia India has officially revealed the India-spec Sorento ahead of its launch on September 4, 2026. The company has also started production of the premium three-row SUV at its Anantapur plant, with the first India-made Sorento rolling off the production line today.

The Sorento will become Kia’s new flagship SUV in India and will mark the brand’s entry into the premium three-row SUV segment. More importantly, it will be Kia’s first hybrid SUV in India and will be offered with all-wheel drive (AWD). A diesel powertrain will also be available, giving buyers a choice between hybrid and diesel options. Kia has not yet revealed the India-spec power and torque figures.

The official images show that the India-spec Sorento gets Kia’s latest global SUV design. It features a large grille, vertically stacked LED headlamps with distinctive DRLs, a wide stance and a fairly upright SUV profile. The SUV also gets black alloy wheels, roof rails and prominent silver-finished elements around the lower body.

Inside, the Sorento gets a premium-looking cabin with a dual-screen dashboard, a digital instrument cluster and a large central touchscreen. The images also reveal a panoramic sunroof, a rotary drive selector, ambient lighting, a dual-tone beige and black interior and a neatly integrated climate-control panel. The overall cabin design is more upmarket than Kia’s existing mass-market SUVs.

One of the biggest talking points will be the new Kia AI Assistant. The India-spec Sorento will be the first Kia globally to introduce Kia’s Live Generative AI technology. Unlike a conventional voice assistant that works with fixed commands, Kia says the system will allow more natural conversations and provide access to real-time information. It will also be the first application of Live Generative AI in the Indian automotive industry.

Kia has also confirmed that the hybrid version will get AWD, making the Sorento one of the more interesting options in the premium three-row SUV space. The diesel version will give buyers a more conventional alternative, particularly for those who regularly drive long distances.

The Sorento is being manufactured at Kia’s Anantapur facility, which has been the company’s production base in India since 2019. Kia says the new SUV has been built in India for Indian customers.

Kia has already opened pre-bookings for the Sorento through its dealerships and official website. The company will announce the price and complete India-spec details at the official launch on September 4, 2026.

With its three-row layout, hybrid AWD option, diesel powertrain and new-generation technology, the Sorento is set to take Kia into a much more premium space in the Indian market. It is expected to go up against SUVs such as the Toyota Fortuner, Skoda Kodiaq, Volkswagen Tayron and MG Majestor, although the final positioning and pricing will be revealed at launch.
