MG Motor MG M9 launched in India with a price tag of Rs. 69.90 lakhs (ex-showroom). Positioned between the Kia Carnival and Toyota Vellfire, the M9 stands out as India’s first fully-electric premium MPV. It will be sold exclusively through the brand’s premium MG Select dealership network and comes in a single, fully-loaded variant.
The MG M9 boasts a distinctive, squared-off design with sharp LED lighting, large 19-inch alloy wheels and chrome detailing that adds a touch of sophistication. Inside, the vehicle features a premium 6-seater layout with second-row captain chairs, offering enhanced comfort and a lounge-like experience, especially with the deployable ottomans.
A simple dashboard setup includes a 12.23-inch infotainment screen, 7-inch digital instrument cluster and floating centre console. Upholstery in leather and suede with a cognac brown finish complements the overall upscale appeal.
The MPV comes equipped with a wide array of features aimed at enhancing passenger comfort and convenience. These include dual sunroofs (single-pane at the front and panoramic at the rear), powered seats with heating, ventilation, massage function, wireless smartphone integration, a 13-speaker JBL sound system, rear-seat entertainment screens, digital IRVM and connected car technology.
Practicality is also a strong suit for the M9, with a generous 945 litres of boot space, expandable to 1720 litres and an additional 55-litre frunk.
Safety is prioritised with 7 airbags, Level 2 ADAS, electronic stability control, a 360-degree camera, TPMS and both front and rear disc brakes. While Bharat NCAP testing is pending, the M9 has already received five-star safety ratings in both Euro NCAP and Australian NCAP.
Powering the MG M9 is a 90kWh nickel-manganese-cobalt battery paired with a single front-mounted motor producing 245 HP and 350 Nm of torque. The MPV supports three driving modes – Normal, Eco and Sport.
It promises a certified range of up to 548 km (MIDC) on a single charge. Charging options include a 160kW DC fast charger (0-100% in 90 minutes) and an 11kW AC charger (0-100% in 10 hours), making it versatile for various usage scenarios.
With its blend of electric efficiency, luxurious comfort and feature-rich packaging, the MG M9 carves a niche in India’s premium MPV market. While priced between the more affordable Kia Carnival and the high-end Toyota Vellfire, the M9 brings all-electric appeal into this segment, making it a unique offering for those seeking sustainable luxury.
