Volkswagen ID. Cross Concept Revealed At IAA, Production Version Will Launch In 2026

Volkswagen has revealed the ID. Cross Concept at IAA. Volkswagen designed the electric compact SUV for both city commutes and long-distance drives. This reveal strengthens Volkswagen’s expanding EV lineup.

The ID Cross Concept follows the ID.2 all, ID. GTI Concept, and ID. Every1 as the fourth small EV concept. Production versions of these new models will enter the market starting in 2026. The world premiere of the ID. Polo is planned for early 2026.

Volkswagen will display both the ID. Polo and Polo GTI at IAA Mobility, though still slightly camouflaged. These legendary designations are now entering the realm of electric mobility. Volkswagen will debut the final production version of the ID Cross in mid-2026.

Styling

The ID Cross Concept measures 4161 mm in length, 1839 mm in width, and 1588 mm in height, with a 2601 mm wheelbase. Its dimensions are similar to today’s Volkswagen T-Cross. Despite its compact size, it offers practicality and modern styling.

Interior

The interior offers generous space for five passengers, with a 450-litre boot and an additional 25-litre front compartment. Special seats fold completely flat to create a lounge-like reclining area. Volkswagen describes the cabin as a “feel-good oasis.”

High-quality fabrics and Vanilla Chai tones enhance comfort in the concept SUV. Pre-configured Atmospheres adjust light, sound, and climate for relaxation. The cockpit layout ensures intuitive operation and focused attention on the road.

A redesigned multifunction steering wheel improves ergonomics and control. Displays include an 11-inch digital instrument cluster and a 13-inch infotainment system. Both screens are arranged on a single visual axis.

Battery Performance & Range

The ID Cross Concept uses a newly developed European-made drive system. A front-mounted motor produces 211 HP. The flat high-voltage battery supports a WLTP range of up to 420 km.

Built on Volkswagen’s modular MEB platform, the SUV benefits from upcoming improvements with MEB+. Advancements will cover engines, batteries, and software. Volkswagen aims to establish the ID. Cross as a benchmark for compact electric SUVs.
