VinFast India Tamil Nadu Manufacturing Facility Inaugurated, Will Create Between 3000 & 3500 Direct Jobs

VinFast has inaugurated its new manufacturing facility in Tamil Nadu, marking its first plant outside Vietnam and its third globally operational plant. The brand highlights its expanding global ambitions with this being the fifth project in its worldwide manufacturing network. The plant reflects the company’s ability to deliver large-scale industrial projects with international standards.

The facility, situated on a 400-acre site, features cutting-edge automation and world-class production lines across multiple specialised units. It includes a Body Shop, Paint Shop, Assembly Shop, Quality Control Centre, and a Logistics Hub. An auxiliary cluster for local contractors is also part of the complex and will expand later.

Employment Opportunity

At full capacity, the plant will create between 3000 and 3500 direct jobs, as well as numerous indirect employment opportunities. This significant employment boost supports Tamil Nadu’s vision of becoming an EV manufacturing hub. The facility is expected to raise the region’s socio-economic profile and attract related investments.

Production Targets

Initially, the plant will assemble two premium electric SUVs, i.e. the VF 6 and VF 7, for Indian and international markets. The production will start with 50,000 units per year, scalable to 150,000 units. This flexibility allows VinFast to respond swiftly to growing EV demand across multiple regions.

VinFast aims to achieve 200,000 vehicle sales by 2025 and produce one million vehicles annually by 2030. The Tamil Nadu facility critically contributes to achieving these long-term targets. It signifies VinFast’s commitment to a greener, more sustainable automotive future in India and beyond.

Future Plans

VinFast plans to make this plant its largest export hub serving multiple global markets from India. The Tamil Nadu government is working closely with the company to realize this vision. Together, they aim to transform the area into the “EV capital of South Asia.”

The plant will focus on domestic supplier partnerships, enabling supply chain localization and workforce upskilling. These efforts will support India’s green industrial development and EV ecosystem growth. VinFast also plans to transfer cutting-edge technology to local partners.
