VinFast India Launch Plans Revealed

Vietnamese automaker VinFast is gearing up to enter the Indian auto market in the coming months. We recently visited the brand’s factory in Hai Phong, Vietnam to experience a few of of their products and learn more about their India entry.

VinFast will be inaugurating their manufacturing facility in Chennai in the near future. The plant will initially have an annual production capacity of 50,000 units which will be expanded to 1.5 lakh units gradually (domestic sales + exports). The brand will launch the VF 6 and VF 7 electric cars first, and bookings for these models will begin in June.

The VinFast VF 6 measures 4.2-metres in length and will rival cars like the Tata Curvv, Mahindra BE 6, Hyundai Creta EV, etc. while the bigger VF 7 is around 4.5-metres long. Our reviews of these cars will go live on 10th June.

The VinFast VF 3 is also a very popular small EV in Vietnam and it is known for its funky styling and compact footprint. It has a range of around 200 km. The automaker might plan to launch that in India in 2026.

While VinFast will have showrooms in metros across India, the brand understands the importance of having presence in Tier-2 and Tier-3 regions as well and they will have a network in those parts of the country too.

Closer to the launch of the VF 6 and VF 7, VinFast India will announce the vehicles’ pricing and warranty details. VinFast also manufactures electric buses, scooters and pick-up trucks and they would want to explore the possibilities of bringing all of them to India.
