
Tesla has updated the Model S and Model X globally. The brand has implemented various changes such as improving ride comfort, adding new features, introducing a new color option, and making minor design changes. These changes increase the price of the models by USD 5000 or Rs. 4.30 Lakh.
Tesla has made the styling changes exclusively to the Plaid trims of the EVs. These include aggressive bumpers with larger air intakes. According to Tesla, this enhances the Model S Plaid’s stability at high speeds. Additionally, Tesla has redesigned the 19-inch alloy rims with aero discs and offers 21-inch rims as an optional extra.
The Model X gets new 20-inch alloy rims as well. Buyers can also opt for 22-inch alloy rims for the electric SUV, but the EV does not receive any other styling updates. Both models can be optioned in a new Frost Blue Metallic shade, priced at USD 2500 or Rs. 2.15 Lakh.
Additionally, the Black paint finishes have been replaced in favour of the new Diamond Black finish, priced at USD 1500 or Rs. 1.29 Lakh. There is also a new parking camera, aiding features like Autopilot, Smart Summon and adaptive headlights.
The interior gets more efficient sound insulation, adding comfort for the occupants. Tesla now offers customisable ambient lighting for the Model S and Model X. The Model X gains more space in the third row, increasing the boot space by 70.8 litres.
Interestingly, the yoke steering wheel is not available on the non-Plaid models of the EVs. However, it remains an optional extra for the Plaid buyers, priced at USD 1000 or Rs. 86,080.
The 100 kWh dual motor and Plaid’s triple motor battery packs receive no major changes. However, the Long Range Model S now offers a range of 660 Km, and the Model S Plaid provides a range of 592 Km. The top speed of the Model S Plaid has dropped from 322 Km/hr to an astonishingly low 240 Km/hr.
In terms of the Model X, the Long Range variant delivers a range of 566 Km and the Plaid delivers a range of 539 Km.
Tesla has also improved the ride comfort by adding new bushings to the suspension setup. According to the electric car maker, this enhancement improves the ride quality.
The base-spec Model S Long Range is priced at USD 86,850 or Rs. 74.57 Lakh. The Model S Plaid is priced at USD 101,630 or Rs. 87.48 Lakh. In terms of the Model X, the Long Range costs USD 91,630 or Rs. 78.87 Lakh while the Plaid costs USD 106,630 or Rs. 91.78 Lakh.
Tesla has been planning to launch its models in India, but the Model S and Model X may not launch in India. Initially, the brand is homologating the Model 3 and the Model Y. However, the Model S and Model X may arrive on the shores after some time.
