Toyota has unveiled new variants of the Fortuner and Legender, introducing the Neo Drive 48V grade. The Toyota Legender Neo Drive is priced at Rs. 50.09 lakhs (ex-showroom), while the Fortuner Neo Drive comes in at Rs. 44.72 lakhs (ex-showroom). Deliveries are set to commence from the third week of June, with bookings now open online and at authorised Toyota dealerships.
These updated models are equipped with a 48-Volt mild-hybrid system that promises enhanced fuel efficiency, smoother performance and reduced emissions—all without compromising the vehicles’ core strengths in power and off-road capability.
The Neo Drive system incorporates a belt-integrated starter generator paired with a lithium-ion battery. The setup assists the engine during acceleration and recovers energy during braking, resulting in improved performance and efficiency. One of its key features, Smart Idle Start-Stop, automatically shuts off the engine when stationary to reduce fuel consumption in city traffic.
The Fortuner and Legender Neo Drive variants retain the 2.8-litre turbo-diesel engine but benefit from quieter startups and reduced engine strain. Toyota claims these improvements result in a more refined driving experience both in urban and off-road environments. A standout addition is the Multi-Terrain Select system, allowing drivers to adjust traction and drive settings based on terrain conditions.
New features include a 360-degree panoramic camera for improved visibility, a wireless smartphone charger and a Neo Drive badge to differentiate the hybrid-assisted versions. Both models maintain their high safety standards with seven airbags, Vehicle Stability Control, Hill Assist and other essential driver aids.
Toyota is also offering various financing solutions, extended warranty options and service packages under its Toyota Smiles Plus program to enhance ownership experience.
