Toyota Corolla Cross GR Sport Revealed, Gets Sportier Cosmetic & Mechanical Enhancements

Toyota has unveiled the Corolla Cross GR Sport. Based on the regular Corolla, there are a few mechanical and cosmetic enhancements made to the popular model. This is the first time the company has given a GR Sport trim to the Corolla.

Exterior

An exclusive Storm Grey paint finish is the most notable enhancement on the exterior of the Corolla Cross GR Sport. Various GR Sport badges adorn the car, including the front grille and tailgate. Suspension enhancements have also been made, resulting in a lower stance.

Interior

The interior of the GR Sport has a Brin Naub upholstery, with contrast stitching and GR logos. The interior features a suede-like synthetic leather. There are also new controls for the climate control, centre console with smartphone storage and a new gear knob.

The Corolla Cross GR Sport gets the same 10.5-inch infotainment system and 12.3-inch gauge cluster. Other creature comforts in the GR Sport include heated seats, a steering wheel, panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, and Level 2 ADAS.

Engine

The Toyota Corolla Cross GR Sport is powered by either a 1.8-litre petrol hybrid engine, producing 140 HP, or a 2.0-litre hybrid engine producing 200 HP. You can also get the latter with an AWD option. The Hybrid 140 achieves a 0-100 Km/hr acceleration time of 9.9 seconds, the FWD Hybrid 200 in 7.6 seconds, and the Corolla Cross AWD in 7.5 seconds.

The suspension is lowered by 10 mm, giving the crossover SUV a better stance than before. The e-CVT gets a Sport Mode that makes acceleration and deceleration more aggressive.

Outlook

Toyota doesn’t have any plans to launch the Corolla Cross or the GR Sport variant in India. The Corolla Cross, codenamed 340 D, was under consideration for a launch in June 2026. It is important to remember that the Innova Hycross and Corolla Cross share the TNGA-C platform.

However, the technical and commercial viability for an India launch was lacking.
