Tesla is set to expand its presence in India with the launch of its second showroom, scheduled to open on 11th August at the WorldMark 3 Mall in Aerocity, New Delhi. This development follows the recent debut of the electric vehicle (EV) maker’s first Indian showroom at the Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) in Mumbai.
In addition to the showroom in Mumbai, Tesla also inaugurated its maiden charging station at One BKC, equipped with four V4 superchargers (DC fast chargers) and four AC destination chargers. The company plans to extend this infrastructure further, with three more charging stations expected to come up in Lower Parel, Thane and Navi Mumbai by the end of the September quarter.
Tesla introduced its Model Y to the Indian market alongside the opening of its first showroom, pricing the SUV at Rs. 59.89 lakhs (ex-showroom). The company’s move indicates a phased but steady approach toward establishing a footprint in India’s growing EV ecosystem.
While the overall market for electric vehicles in India continues to evolve, Tesla’s entry is viewed as a significant moment in attracting global players to the sector. However, industry analysts highlight that high pricing and limited local manufacturing might pose short-term challenges to mass adoption
