Tesla has officially commenced bookings for its Model Y crossover across India through its website. The electric vehicle manufacturer announced the opening of nationwide orders via a recent social media update, with priority deliveries set to begin in Mumbai, Pune, Delhi and Gurugram. Other cities will be included in subsequent phases.
The Model Y, Tesla’s debut offering in India, is available in two variants, Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) and Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive (LR RWD). The standard RWD version delivers a WLTP-certified range of up to 500 km, while the LR RWD model offers an extended range of 622 km on a full charge. Both versions share a top speed of 201 km/hr.
Tesla claims a 0-100 km/hr acceleration time of 5.9 seconds for the RWD and 5.6 seconds for the LR RWD. Additional highlights include 19-inch Crossflow alloy wheels and a choice of six exterior colour options. Customers can also opt for the Full Self-Driving (FSD) feature for an extra Rs. 6 lakh.
Booking the Model Y requires a two-step payment process. Buyers must first pay Rs. 22,220 at the time of booking, followed by a second payment of Rs. 3 lakh within seven days. Notably, both amounts are non-refundable and include Tax Collected at Source.
Priced from Rs. 59.89 lakhs (ex-showroom), the Model Y positions itself as a premium electric crossover in India’s growing EV market. Deliveries are expected to begin soon in the initial rollout cities.
