Skoda Auto Outlines Growth Plan In The Indian Automotive Market

Skoda Auto India has unveiled an expansion plan into the Indian automotive sector for 2025. The Czech automaker has outlined its plan to make the Indian market its most important market after the European markets. The announcement comes as the brand celebrates 25 years of operations in the country.

The framework focuses on four main aspects: building a future-ready brand, enhancing customer focus through the model portfolio, increasing market accessibility via network expansion, and implementing new initiatives to improve ownership experience.

Skoda is working on expanding the infrastructure in India, increasing its presence from 165 cities to more than 200 cities by 2025. Notably, the company has expanded its locations from 120 in 2021 to 290 as of 2025. The company will increase this to 350 touchpoints by the end of the year.

The brand’s product strategy involves an “SUV for everyone” approach. The Kylaq, Kushaq and Kodiaq cater to different market segments and price points. Skoda plans to strengthen its sedan lineup, which currently includes the Slavia.

To increase sales, the company focuses on revenue streams beyond vehicle sales. This includes improving the certified pre-owned vehicle business and expanding the services to government agencies and fleet operators. The Czech manufacturer aims to diversify, mobilising both the corporate and rural markets.

Standardising Skoda Supercare is a step towards improving customer service. This program allows customers to pay for routine maintenance only after completing 2 years of ownership or 30,000 Km. The brand has also increased warranty and service packages, providing comprehensive coverage for customers.

Outlook

Skoda has been operating in India since 2001 and currently has 4 models, i.e. Kylaq, Kushaq, Kodiaq and Slavia. This announcement represents the brand’s global strategy as it transitions to electrification and changing preferences for customers.
