Renault to unveil new-generation Duster SUV in India on January 26, 2026

Renault has officially confirmed the comeback of its popular Duster in India, with the next-generation model scheduled for unveiling on Republic Day, January 26, 2026. The French carmaker is preparing to reintroduce the Duster as part of its renewed focus on the Indian market, positioning the SUV at the heart of its “International Game Plan 2027.” This strategy also includes the development of a new seven-seater SUV and an A-segment electric vehicle for future launch.

The Duster’s first appearance in 2012 reshaped the midsize SUV segment in India and Renault now aims to revive that success in a market currently dominated by models such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and Maruti Grand Vitara. The SUV segment remains a high-volume category, accounting for a major share of India’s passenger vehicle sales.

The new Duster will be built on a localized version of the CMF-B modular platform, which underpins several Renault and Dacia models in Europe. Production will take place at Renault’s Oragadam plant near Chennai. The upcoming SUV is expected to feature a redesigned, driver-focused cabin equipped with a 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen, a 7-inch digital cluster, an e-shifter for automatic variants, wireless smartphone connectivity and premium interior elements.

Safety and technology are also expected to see major upgrades, with features such as six airbags, electronic stability control, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot detection and autonomous emergency braking likely included.

Though Renault has not disclosed engine specifications, reports suggest two turbo-petrol options paired with manual and automatic transmissions. A hybrid powertrain could also be introduced at a later stage as part of Renault’s push toward cleaner mobility.

The return of the Duster represents an important step for Renault’s re-entry into India’s competitive SUV landscape, combining its established brand appeal with modern technology and local manufacturing efficiencies.

The new generation Renault Duster will compete with the likes of Hyundai Creta, Maruti Victoris, Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder, Honda Elevate, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun, MG Astor and the upcoming Tata Sierra.
