Mahindra has been spotted testing the next-generation Bolero and Bolero Neo. Interestingly, this time, the side-view of the test mule surfaced online. This reveals some interesting details about the highly anticipated SUVs.
The side profile reveals that the new Bolero will be positioned as a sub-4-metre SUV to qualify for tax benefits on the price after accounting for all taxes and registration costs. It can be observed that the new Bolero appears cleaner than the Bolero Neo. The front and rear bumpers also slimmed to accommodate a smaller silhouette.
The profile of the next-generation Bolero looks like the Defender 110 due to the straight window line. Previously, the design was slightly upswept. Notably, the bonnet, window line, and bottom of the windshield line align in a 180-degree fashion.
Elements like large alloy rims with a rear-mounted spare wheel, squared-off body cladding, and flush door handles resemble those on the XUV700. The test mules also displayed circular LED headlights, a first on the SUV bearing the iconic name. There will be the presence of an independent suspension, providing good comfort.
We expect the upcoming Bolero to be based on a monocoque chassis and in a FWD configuration. The SUV maybe positioned above the 3XO.
The outgoing Bolero’s 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engine, producing 100 HP and 260 NM of torque, is expected to power the Bolero. The engine will offer both an automatic and a manual transmission.
