Keeping up with its tradition, Mahindra & Mahindra is set to make a major announcement this Independence Day. This time, the carmaker will showcase an all-new platform, which will be produced at the company’s new Chakan manufacturing facility. While the company hasn’t yet revealed detailed information about the new Mahindra SUV platform, it’s expected to be the New Flexible Architecture (NFA). Mahindra aims to produce 1.2 lakh NFA-based SUVs annually.

The new-generation Mahindra Bolero and Bolero EV are most likely to be the first products to underpin the new NFA platform, followed by several future Mahindra SUVs. This architecture will be compatible to ICE (internal combustion engine), hybrid and electric powertrains. More details on the NFA platform will be revealed at its official unveiling on August 15.

12 New Mahindra SUVs By 2030

With an aim to strengthen its market position, the home-grown automaker plans to launch a dozen (12) of new SUVs by the end of the decade. The lineup will include 7 ICE models and 5 battery electric vehicles along with the 5 Light Commercial Vehicle (LCV). Earlier, Mahindra had announced that its “all ICE brands will be electrified over time” including the Bolero, Scorpio and Thar. In fact, the Mahindra Thar.e concept was showcased in its concept form on 15th August 2023.

The Thar.e concept was based on the modified version of Mahindra’s INGLO skateboard platform. It featured a 109bhp/135Nm front and a 286bhp/535Nm rear electric motor, supporting AWD (all-wheel drive) system.

Mahindra SUVs In 2025-2026

As for this year’s product lineup, Mahindra & Mahindra is gearing up to launch the electric XUV 3XO and the born-electric XEV 7e SUV, which will directly compete with the Tata Nexon EV and the upcoming Tata Safari EV, respectively. In 2026, the indigenous automaker will introduce the updated XUV700 and Thar (3-door) SUVs. Both SUVs are likely to receive minor design changes, while their interior will be revised significantly. No mechanical changes are expected.
