Why it needs a generation change now?
The Bolero SUV underpins a ladder-frame chassis and comes with leaf-spring rear suspension. However, the existing model fall short of modern standards in terms of handling, safety and interior quality. In fact, its interior layout and features are pretty basic. The SUV has outdated instrument cluster, poor NVH levels and ergonomics. Furthermore, it misses out on several essential features such as climate control, connected features, cruise control, touchscreen, side airbags, ESP, and more.
A Look at Bolero’s Journey So Far!
The Mahindra Bolero was first launched in India in 2000, as the brand’s first SUV to be designed entirely in-house and the first model to feature a diesel engine with direct injection technology. Interestingly, the SUV hasn’t revealed a full generation change in its nearly 25 years of market existence. Though, it has witnessed multiple midlife updates, with the latest one in 2022 in the form of the dual-tone variant. The Bolero has always been popular in tier II and III cities due to its rugged body-built, seating capacity, low maintenance costs and great resale value.
