MG Windsor EV Essence Pro gets Rs. 21,000 price hike, no feature changes

JSW MG Motor India has revised the pricing of its flagship electric vehicle, the Windsor EV. The Essence Pro variant, which represents the top-end, long-range offering in the lineup, has received a price hike of Rs. 21,000. This brings the new ex-showroom price to Rs. 18.31 lakhs, up from the previous introductory pricing of Rs. 17.50 lakhs. Notably, all other variants in the Windsor EV range remain unaffected by the price revision.

The Windsor EV lineup includes five trims: Excite, Exclusive, Essence, Exclusive Pro and Essence Pro. The Essence Pro continues to be powered by a 52.9 kWh battery pack, offering a claimed range of 449 km per charge. Its electric motor delivers a peak output of 134 BHP and 200 Nm of torque.

Though the price has gone up, there are no mechanical or feature upgrades in the Essence Pro. It retains advanced features that set it apart from the lower variants, such as Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) charging capabilities. These allow the car to function as a mobile power source.

Safety and convenience are also key highlights of the Pro variants, with the inclusion of Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). Features like adaptive cruise control, lane departure prevention, traffic jam assist and autonomous emergency braking are part of the package.

Aesthetically, the top-spec Windsor EV comes with six exterior colour options and a dual-tone interior, offering a more premium look and feel.

Despite the price adjustment, the Windsor EV remains competitively priced in the electric SUV market, with the entry-level variant still starting at Rs. 14 lakhs (ex-showroom).
