Mercedes-AMG launches GT 63 and GT 63 Pro in India from Rs. 3 crores

Mercedes-Benz has expanded its performance car portfolio in India with the introduction of the second-generation AMG GT 63 and its more extreme sibling, the AMG GT 63 Pro. Priced at Rs. 3 crores and Rs. 3.65 crores respectively (ex-showroom), these high-performance coupes mark the return of the AMG GT series to the Indian market after a five-year hiatus. Deliveries for the standard GT 63 are set to commence in the final quarter of 2025, with the Pro version following in early 2026.

With the addition of these two models, AMG’s India line-up now consists of nine offerings.

Performance and Powertrain

At the heart of both variants is a hand-built 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine, paired with a 9-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and the 4Matic+ all-wheel-drive system. The standard GT 63 produces 585 HP and 800 Nm of torque, capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/hr in 3.2 seconds. The GT 63 Pro, tuned for higher output, delivers 612 HP and 850 Nm of torque, achieving the same sprint in just 3.1 seconds with optional Cup 2R tyres. The Pro model also offers a slightly higher top speed of 317 km/hr compared to the GT 63’s 315 km/hr.

Beyond raw power, the GT 63 Pro benefits from enhanced cooling, upgraded brakes, lightweight wheels and high-performance tyres. Mercedes-AMG will also offer customers exclusive track experiences in India to showcase the car’s capabilities.

Enhanced Driving Dynamics

According to AMG CEO Michael Schiebe, the GT 63 features a unique transmission layout with a wet starter clutch mounted directly to the engine, replacing the rear-wheel-drive setup of the previous generation. This design enhances traction and provides a broader range of driving characteristics, ensuring better performance across different conditions.

Design and Dimensions

The new-generation AMG GT 63 coupe has grown considerably over its predecessor. It measures:

  • Length: 4728 mm
  • Width: 1984 mm
  • Height: 1354 mm
  • Wheelbase: 2700 mm

The design retains key elements from the first-generation model, such as the long bonnet and sleek liftback silhouette, but introduces modern touches like sleeker headlights and a revised bumper. The GT 63 Pro stands out with more aggressive exterior detailing and unique wheels.

An active aerodynamic system, inspired by Formula 1, enhances high-speed stability by generating additional downforce through the Venturi effect. Flush door handles, slim LED tail-lights, a retractable rear spoiler with five wing angles, and a prominent rear diffuser with twin exhaust outlets complete the design package.

Interior and Features

Inside, the cabin offers a more practical 2+2 seating configuration, unlike the previous generation’s two-seater layout. The interior features premium materials, including Nappa leather upholstery, alongside modern technology such as:

  • 12.3-inch digital driver display
  • 11.9-inch portrait-oriented touchscreen with MBUX infotainment and AMG Performance interface
  • Burmester surround sound system
  • Wireless charging
  • Ambient lighting with 64 color options
  • Dual-zone climate control

The rear seats can be folded to expand the boot space from 321 litres to 675 litres, providing improved practicality.

Driving modes include Slippery, Comfort, Sport, Sport+, Individual, Race and a dedicated Drift mode, which sends full power to the rear wheels for an engaging driving experience. Front sports seats come with ventilation and adjustable side bolsters that react to sportier driving modes, offering greater support.

Rival and Market Position

The AMG GT 63 primarily rivals the Porsche 911 Carrera 4 GTS in the Indian market, targeting enthusiasts seeking high-performance luxury coupes. With improved dimensions, performance, and technology, the GT 63 and GT 63 Pro strengthen Mercedes-AMG’s foothold in the performance car segment.
