Mahindra Thar facelift spied testing, gets subtle updates and feature additions

Mahindra is preparing to refresh its popular lifestyle SUV, the Thar, as the 3-door version has recently been spotted undergoing road tests. This upcoming mid-cycle update will introduce subtle design changes and a few feature upgrades, while retaining its current engine lineup.

Visually, the Thar facelift is expected to receive minor cosmetic revisions. Spy images suggest updates such as a redesigned front grille, revised headlamps and tail lamps, new bumpers and reworked fenders. Alloy wheels with a fresh design may also be part of the exterior updates, contributing to a more refined look without deviating significantly from the rugged styling that defines the Thar.

Inside, the cabin is likely to see a few enhancements aimed at improving comfort and tech appeal. Expected additions include a larger touchscreen infotainment system, ventilated front seats and the introduction of a 360-degree camera — a first for the model, enhancing its urban and off-road usability.

Under the hood, Mahindra will continue to offer the same range of engines. These include a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol unit, a 1.5-litre diesel engine and a 2.2-litre diesel option. Buyers will still have the choice between a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic transmission.

While Mahindra has not yet confirmed a launch timeline, the presence of camouflaged test units suggests that the official debut may not be far off. The Thar facelift is expected to strengthen its appeal in the lifestyle SUV segment without altering its core identity.
