Mahindra is expected to offer the larger 79 kWh battery packs in the lower variants of the BE 6 and XEV 9e. The company recently announced that they had delivered 6300 units of the BE 6 and XEV 9e EVS since March 2025. Mahindra also announced that more than 75% of the bookings have been for the top-spec Pack Three variant, featuring the large 79 kWh battery pack.
To simplify the lineup, manufacturers expect to equip the lower variants of the EV SUVs with larger battery packs. The deliveries for the Pack Three variant began in March, while the deliveries of the Pack Three Select variant will commence in June. The Pack Two variants will commence deliveries in July.
Deliveries for the base-spec Pack One Above and Pack One variants will begin in August 2025. People have inquired about the base-spec and mid-spec variants, but these inquiries have not resulted in bookings. The buyers want to see the EVs before they commit.
There is an interesting trend that can be observed during the deliveries for the BE 6 and XEV 9e. Buyers are prioritising range over features, potentially leading Mahindra to offer larger batteries in lower variants. Originally, the manufacturer reserved the 79 kWh battery for the top variant, while lower models received a 59 kWh battery.
Mahindra will offer the larger battery by removing a few features for the lower variants to adjust the prices accordingly. According to the company, there is a customer base which wants an extended range of a few features. This strategy might assist in attracting a wider clientele and increasing sales.
