Land Rover has launched the updated Defender. The off-road centric SUV gets minor upgrades, new features and design changes. Land Rover also provides a more comprehensive list of accessories for the Defender.
The styling revisions include redesigned headlights with a new signature when illuminated, and the tail lights receive a smoked finish. Land Rover standardized the fog lights on the off-road SUV. A gloss black bar also runs across the grille.
Additionally, you can finish the front and rear bumpers in Silicon Silver or Carpathian Grey Satin. A new textured finish adorns the bonnet and fender inserts. The wheel caps now say ‘Defender’ as opposed to ‘Land Rover’ and a black oval badge.
New 22-inch seven-spoke Diamond Turned Dark Grey alloy rims are now available. The new Defender brings Borasco Grey and Woolstone Green to the range in terms of colours. The latter also gets aluminium and yellow mica accents.
The V8-powered Defender OCTA gets the Sargasso Blue shade. It also gets a new Patagonia White wrap in addition to the matte protective film for all V8 models.
In terms of accessories, Land Rover has kitted out the Defender with an expedition roof rack, crossbars and underbody protection. The Defender OCTA receives a winch rated for 4500 Kg and a carbon fibre cover.
The Defender 130 gets an integrated air compressor, aiding the change of tyre pressures in off-road scenarios.
Notably, the interior houses a 13.1-inch infotainment screen. It bridges the gap between the centre console and dashboard. To comply with European GSR2 regulations, the manufacturer places an infrared camera on the steering column.
The system will send visual and audio alerts after detecting the loss of driver attention. However, you can adjust or turn off the infrared camera using the driver assistance settings. An innovative off-road adaptive cruise control system is available as an option.
The same engine and body styles are available on the updated Defender. The bodystyles are known as 90, 110 and 130. The 90 is a 3-door, the 110 is a 5-seater 5-door and the 130 is an 8-seater 5-door.
In India, the Defender is powered by 2.0-litre, 2.0-litre plug-in hybrid, 3.0-litre diesel, 5.0-litre V8 and 4.4-litre V8 engines.
Land Rover has already made the updated Defender available in the UK. The updated Defender is expected to launch in India as well. Currently, the Defender is priced from Rs. 1.05 crore and goes up to Rs. 2.79 crore (ex-showroom) in India.
