Hyundai has been spotted testing the Verna facelift, scheduled for 2026. It is the 3rd best-selling C-segment sedan; however, it trails behind its European competitors. A mid-cycle facelift has been overdue to improve the South Korean sedan’s sales figures.
The test mule reveals no significant design changes between the facelift and the outgoing model. Only the rear three-quarters have been spied, showing that the LED taillights retain the connected lightbar as before.
We expect the front fascia to be refreshed with revised front bumpers. Possibly, Hyundai can choose to make it more subtle to appeal to a wider clientele. Hyundai is known to remove fog lights in its facelifted models.
The alloy wheels also resembled those of the outgoing model. Although this can change in future. Hyundai will retain the shark fin antennae, conventional door handles, and chrome highlights as well.
It is important to note that Hyundai can add features like a larger touchscreen, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, rear seat ventilation, reclining rear seats, Digital Key and much more. Potentially, Hyundai can also add more premium finishes as seen on the Alcazar and Creta, as well as different leather shades.
Hyundai will retain the engine and transmission combinations from the outgoing model. Currently, Hyundai offers a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine and a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine. Transmission choices include 6-speed manual, CVT and 7-speed DCT.
The facelifted Verna will compete with the Skoda Slavia, Volkswagen Virtus and Honda City. Hyundai can potentially experiment with a performance-oriented suspension setup and an N-Line variant to entice enthusiasts.
