Hyundai has expanded its Aura compact sedan lineup with the launch of a new entry-level automatic variant, the Aura S AMT. Priced at Rs. 8.07 lakhs (ex-showroom), this model offers a more accessible option for buyers looking for an affordable automatic vehicle in the compact sedan segment.
The Aura S AMT variant comes equipped with Hyundai’s 1.2-litre petrol engine that delivers 82 BHP and 114 Nm of torque. This engine is paired with a five-speed Automated Manual Transmission, offering a blend of fuel efficiency and driving ease. The S AMT carries a premium of Rs. 70,000 over its manual counterpart but retains the same design and feature package.
In terms of pricing, the Aura S AMT undercuts its primary competitors, the Maruti Suzuki Dzire and Honda Amaze. The Dzire’s base automatic starts at Rs. 8.34 lakhs, while the Amaze begins at Rs. 9.39 lakh. While the Tata Tigor does offer an automatic variant at a lower price point of Rs. 7.35 lakhs, it is generally positioned a segment below when evaluated on a feature-to-feature basis.
Key features of the Aura S variant include Electronic Stability Control (ESC), LED Daytime Running Lights, six airbags, a Highline Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) and electrically adjustable mirrors with integrated turn indicators.
Commenting on the launch, Tarun Garg, Whole-Time Director and COO of Hyundai Motor India, emphasised the company’s goal of making advanced automotive technologies more widely available. He noted that the new AMT variant of the Aura reflects Hyundai’s ongoing focus on affordability, safety, and user convenience.
With this latest addition, Hyundai aims to redefine value in the entry-level automatic sedan market by combining safety and comfort with a competitive price tag.
