The Hyundai Creta has been the undisputed leader in the midsize SUV segment for years despite the arrival of new rivals and growing competition. Within the next 6-12 months we will see plenty of action in this segment and here we have explained about the three upcoming new models from brands like Maruti Suzuki, Renault and Nissan soon:
Maruti Suzuki appears to be planning to introduce a brand new midsize SUV in the coming months. Expected to be sold through Arena dealerships, the five-seater will compete directly with the Creta, Seltos and the likes. It could have several commonalities with the existing Grand Vitara and could appeal to a wide range of customers.
The upcoming generation of the Renault Duster, expected to arrive in showrooms by late 2025 or early 2026, was first seen testing on Indian roads towards the end of last year. It is underpinned by the CMF-B modular platform, a widely adopted base across multiple European models. For India, Renault will introduce a significantly localised version of this architecture to suit the unique requirements and conditions of the domestic market.

Manufacturing duties are set to be handled at the Oragadam plant located near Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Thanks to extensive localisation efforts, the SUV is likely to benefit from aggressive pricing. Although official powertrain details remain unconfirmed, reports suggest the new Duster might offer two turbocharged petrol engine options, paired with both manual and automatic gearboxes.
Nissan’s C-segment SUV is styled with cues borrowed from the flagship Patrol. It is expected to adopt a modern silhouette and have a high riding stance. Nissan is also planning to introduce a three-row, 7-seat variant which will be positioned above the C-SUV. It goes without saying that the midsize model will have a lot in common with the all-new Duster.
