Honda has released an official teaser of the City Sport Edition. As the name suggests, it will be a sportier version of the popular sedan. The teaser featured the tagline ‘Ready for a sportier life’, hinting at the special edition.
At the moment, Honda is keeping the official details under wraps. However, you can safely assume there will be cosmetic enhancements for the city. These may be similar to the Elevate Dark Edition.
The City Sport Edition could feature blacked-out treatment for the front grille, ORVM caps, shark fin antennae, and the boot lid spoiler. The 16-inch alloy wheels may receive a sportier look as well.
The interior shall complement the exterior with a black and red theme. The seats may receive sportier contrast stitching to evoke strong feelings. A great touch would be taking inspiration from the Honda Civic Type R’s bucket seats.
The Honda City Sport Edition is expected to retain the same 1.5-litre petrol engine. It produces 119 HP and 145 NM of torque. The engine pairs with either a 6-speed manual or a CVT unit.
It remains to be seen whether the Sport Edition includes the sedan’s hybrid variant, City e:HEV, as well. Regarding pricing, the Sport Edition will demand a premium over the regular City due to all the enhancements. The Honda City Sport Edition will rival the Volkswagen Virtus GT Plus Sport and Hyundai Verna Turbo.
