Citroen e-Spacetourer Considered For India Launch

Citroen is considering launching the e-Spacetourer in India. With the ongoing Free Trade Agreement (FTA) talks, the brand can price the premium MPV attractively. Citroen considers launching only the electric version of the e-Spacetourer for a potential launch in the country, although it is available with both diesel and electric powertrains.

Battery & Range

The Citroen e-Spacetourer, with similar proportions to the upcoming MG M9, exceeds 5 metres in length. A 75 kWh battery pack with an electric motor, producing 136 HP, powers the vehicle. The brand claims a range of 348 Km on the WLTP cycle.

The premium MPV also gets a short-wheelbase version, featuring a 49 kWh battery pack. The vehicle boasts a range of up to 320 Km. However, only the long wheelbase version is under consideration for the launch in India.

The e-Spacetourer offers an immense amount of 2nd row and 3rd row legroom. Swivelling seats in the middle row enhance comfort for the occupants with foldable tables.

Market Competition

Citroen faces tough competition from the likes of Toyota Vellfire, Kia Carnival, and Lexus LM. Notably, Toyota has sold 1155 units of the Vellfire and Kia has sold 967 units of the Carnival between January and May 2025. Introducing the MG M9 will result in increased competition in the segment.

The Citroen e-Spacetourer is not as luxurious as most of these offerings in the Indian market. However, this can help the brand price the MPV more attractively compared to the competition, which generally prices its offerings upwards of Rs. 1 crore. Additionally, Citroen can position the e-Spacetourer towards luxury fleet buyers to generate a higher number of sales.
