BMW Unveils The M2 CS, Features Lightweight Components & More Power Compared To The Regular M2

BMW has unveiled the M2 CS at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este 2025. The German brand reserves the CS badge, short for Competition Sport, for high-performance track-oriented machines. This might be the last M2 that features an internal combustion engine without any hybrid assistance.

Styling

BMW has given subtle but noticeable changes to the design of the M2 CS. There is a revised grille and air ducts, allowing for better airflow into the engine. The alloy wheels are also lightweight and finished in gold.

BMW offers the German sports car in four colours: Black Sapphire, Portimao Blue, Brooklyn Grey, and Velvet Blue. Additionally, the M2 CS features a ducktail spoiler and a more aggressive rear diffuser.

Engine

The BMW M2 CS is powered by the same 3.0-litre twin-turbo 6-cylinder engine. It receives a power boost, producing 530 HP and 630 NM of torque. It is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission and is not available with a manual transmission option.

BMW states that the 6-speed manual, offered on the regular M2, isn’t engineered to handle the increased torque figures. The brand also went ahead without the manual as consumer demand for the third pedal isn’t substantial enough to justify it for the high-performance M2. The M2 CS accelerated from 0-100 Km/hr in just 3.8 seconds!

The CS package also brings weight savings to the M2. This is done with the help of a carbon fibre roof and boot lid. This brings the kerb weight of the M2 CS to 1700 Kg, which is 30 Kg lighter than the regular M2.

There are also stiffer engine mounts as well as unique springs and damper tuning. In addition to this, the steering wheel, brakes and differentials are also upgraded to deliver a thrilling driving experience. On the CS, there is the availability of an optional M-Performance titanium exhaust.

Notably, all the suspension upgrades make the M2 CS 8mm lower.

Interior

The interior of the M2 CS includes carbon fibre bucket seats, alcantara upholstery, and contrasting stitching in M-Performance colours. The steering wheel is also finished in alcantara with M-Performance stitching and CS logos on the door cards. However, the M2 CS provides comforts such as 3-zone climate control, a Harmon Kardon sound system, a head-up display, and a heated steering wheel.
