Citroen has launched the Basalt X range in India, priced from Rs 7.95 lakh (ex-showroom). The Basalt lineup features this new trim at the top. Citroën offers this trim only with the 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine paired with manual or automatic transmission options.
The Basalt X design highlights include a matte black exterior and dual-tone black-and-brown interiors for a premium sporty feel. The Basalt X shares upgrades with the C3X, featuring advanced equipment and a modern cabin experience. Citroen has given the option to choose between manual and automatic transmissions.
Convenience features include push-button start, keyless entry, cruise control, auto-dimming IRVM, 360-degree camera, and wireless phone mirroring. These upgrades enhance comfort and technology for daily driving. The trim is aimed at offering a premium SUV experience. The automaker also introduced CARA – their new in-car assistant.
The brand particularly focuses on safety in the Basalt X range, including six airbags, ABS with EBD, and a stability program. The SUV also offers ISOFIX mounts for child safety. The Basalt X carries a 4-star Bharat NCAP rating, achieved in 2024.
The 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine produces 108 HP and 190 Nm of torque with a manual transmission, or 205 Nm of torque with an automatic transmission. This ensures flexible performance across city and highway conditions. The engine has balanced power delivery with smooth drivability. There is also a 1.2 NA petrol engine on the base variant but it is underwhelming in performance.

1.2 NA MT You | Rs. 7.95 lakh |
