Maruti Suzuki India has begun exporting its first battery electric vehicle, the e-Vitara, marking a significant milestone. The automaker shipped over 2900 units in the first batch from Pipavav Port in Gujarat. The cars are heading to 12 European countries – United Kingdom, Germany, Norway, France, Denmark, Switzerland, Netherlands, Sweden, Hungary, Iceland, Austria, and Belgium.
Maruti Suzuki manufactures the e Vitara at its Hansalpur facility in Gujarat. The plant will serve as the global production hub for the model. However, the company has not yet revealed specifications for the model, which will launch in India.
Maruti Suzuki confirmed the e Vitara will come in Delta, Zeta, and Alpha variants. The EV boasts an impressive 500km driving range. This feature makes it a strong contender in the growing global electric SUV market.
We expect the e Vitara to launch soon in India. Maruti Suzuki plans to export the model to over 100 countries. This move underscores the brand’s ambition to emerge as a global EV leader.
