Mahindra NU_IQ Platform Unveiled, To Rival Global C2 Platform

Mahindra has introduced the NU_IQ platform, designed to underpin its next-generation global SUV models. The company aims to expand its dominance of the “core SUV” market from India to several key international markets. NU_IQ combines global design, advanced engineering, and intelligence-driven features for enhanced performance.

According to Mahindra, the platform meets new performance standards and is built from innovations conceived at Mahindra’s UK design centres. It is crafted at the Mahindra Research Valley in India, blending precision engineering with technology.

Features

The platform will rival global C2 platforms in capability and refinement. It will offer high ground clearance and a commanding seating position. Occupants will get more headroom and legroom than even luxury SUVs.

The NU IQ platform will feature a five-link rear suspension for improved stability and comfort. It also debuts DAVINCI damper technology for adaptive ride control. These enhancements promise better body control across varied terrains.

Future Potential

Core SUVs have risen from 20% of the market in 2022 to 30% now. The brand sees the remaining 70% of the passenger vehicle market as significant untapped potential.

Globally, Mahindra plans to replicate its Indian playbook for mainstream SUV disruption. Premium SUVs form just 5% of the market, leaving 95% ready for transformation. The strategy focuses on delivering next-in-class features at accessible prices.

The modular nature of the platform allows for multiple ICE and EV powertrains and left-hand drive as well as right-hand drive configurations. It is important to mention that the SUVs will range between 3990mm and 4320mm in length, constructed on the platform. The platform will also allow for both AWD and FWD versions.

Outlook

With NU IQ, Mahindra is targeting markets nearly double the size of India’s SUV industry. The company considers this a massive global opportunity. Notably, the company’s aspirations are fully international in scope.
