Koenigsegg has launched the Sadair’s Spear. This version aims to be even more track-oriented than the Koenigsegg Jesko. It is a lighter hypercar with more downforce and hence, more track-focused when compared to the Jesko Attack.
Christian Von Koenigsegg’s father, Jesko Von Koenigsegg, rode the horse named Sadair’s Spear when he was a Jockey. Jesko raced the horse in his last race in 1976.
The engine features a similar 5.0-litre twin turbo V8 with hybrid assistance. It produces a monstrous 1603 HP and 1500 NM of torque. The power is so high that the powertrain pairs with the in-house 9-speed light-speed transmission.
By revising engine calibration, redesigning the air intakes, and improving the cooling, Koenigsegg increased the power. Although the acceleration figures haven’t been announced, it smashed the Gotland lap record by 1.1 seconds! Interestingly, Koenigsegg has beaten its own record, as the previous track record was held by the Jesko Attack.
The Koenigsegg Sadair’s Spear showcases drastic styling, similar to Jesko, but incorporates aerodynamic enhancements. There is an active double-blade rear wing, increasing high-speed stability and downforce. Larger canards, louvres and hood vents can also be found at the front of the hypercar.
When a car is designed to go this fast, it also requires an immense amount of stopping power. Thankfully, the Sadair’s Spear has an upgraded carbon ceramic pad material. Additionally, the self-levelling suspension gets lighter springs, reducing the weight by 35 Kg.
On the inside, there is a six-point harness which offers better protection than normal seatbelts inside the carbon fibre shell. The weight savings haven’t stopped the brand from adding an intuitive infotainment system and speakers. Additionally, there is also the availability of wireless charging for the phone.
One of the most innovative aspects of the cockpit is the digital driver’s display that is mounted on the steering wheel and displays information in the correct view at all times.
Koenigsegg will make just 30 units of the Sadair’s Spear. It has an astronomical price tag of Rs. 40 Crore. Unfortunately, all of these have been sold when the brand gave its most loyal customers a private viewing.
