Mahindra Thar 3-door facelift has been spotted testing for the first time. The prototype was spotted by MotorBeamer Nitesh Repswal. The updated model is expected to be introducing during the upcoming festive season or early next year.
The 3-door Thar will get cosmetic changes on the exterior including new headlights, grille design, revised bumpers, new tail lights and new alloy wheels. Along with these changes we can expect refreshed colour options with the new Thar.
Following the launch of the new Mahindra Thar Roxx, the 3-door version felt neglected as it lacked quite a lot of features compared to the bigger version. There are still many buyers who prefer the 3-door avatar and are eagerly waiting for the facelift to arrive with more features.
The interior is expected to get multiple changes including new dashboard layout with revised controls, larger and smoother touchscreen infotainment system with the latest UI along with a digital instrument cluster. We can also expect the new electric power assisted steering wheel that will replace the hydraulic power steering unit.
In terms of features, the new Thar is expected to get more features and most of them will be trickled down from the Thar Roxx. It currently misses out on push button start/stop, 360 degree camera, front arm rest, sunroof, ambient lighting, rear disc brakes, etc.
It is expected to continue with the same engine options. The Mahindra Thar is offered with a 2.0-litre mStallion turbo petrol engine producing 150 BHP and 300-320 Nm of torque. It also comes with a 2.2-lire mHawk diesel engine producing 130 BHP and 300 Nm. Both the engines come with 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission options. The RWD variant gets the same petrol engine option but a smaller 1.5-litre D117 CRDe diesel engine producing 117 BHP and 300 Nm torque with 6-speed manual transmission.
