
In the Bharat NCAP crash test, the Maruti Dzire achieved an impressive 5-star rating. This makes the Dzire the first sedan to score the rating in India. The test involved the base-spec LXI variant with a manual transmission.
The sedan scored 29.46 points out of the available 32 points for Adult Occupant Protection. The Dzire scored 41.57 out of 49 points for Child Occupant Protection.
The report demonstrated that the sedan offered good protection to the head and legs in the Frontal Offset Deformable Barrier Test. Meanwhile, the same test rated the chest protection for the driver as marginal. The sedan achieved 14.17 points out of the total 16 points in the Frontal Offset Deformable Barrier Test.
In the Side Movable Deformable Barrier Test, the Dzire was able to offer good protection to the occupants’ heads and abdomens and adequate protection to the chest area. The sedan also offers good protection to the occupants in the side pole impact test. The Dzire also scored 15.29 points out of the total 16 points in the Side Movable Deformable Barrier Test.
Notably, the team conducted dynamic tests using a child restraint system following the protocol. The Dzire achieved a Dynamic Score of 23.57 out of 24. The Dzire also got a perfect CRS Installation Score of 12/12. However, the Vehicle Assessment Score rated the vehicle less impressively, scoring 6 out of 13.
