BMW standardises i7 electric sedan pricing across India, waives registration fees

BMW India has introduced a unique initiative to streamline the pricing of its flagship electric sedan, the BMW i7, by eliminating regional cost differences. In a move to promote electric mobility and enhance customer convenience, the luxury carmaker will now cover the registration charges for all i7 models sold across India. This means the sedan will carry a uniform ex-showroom price of Rs. 2.05 crores, regardless of the state in which the vehicle is purchased.

This pricing structure includes the ex-showroom cost, GST and registration charges, all borne by BMW India. However, customers will still be responsible for paying Tax Collected at Source (TCS), insurance and any applicable local tax cess or levies. The initiative marks a first in the Indian automotive luxury segment, where registration costs are often a variable expense depending on local state policies.

The BMW i7 offers a WLTP-certified range of up to 603 km on a full charge, positioning it as a premium offering in the growing electric vehicle market. According to Vikram Pawah, President and CEO of BMW Group India, the decision reinforces BMW’s commitment to customer-centric policies and its push for sustainable mobility in the Indian market.

By offering a uniform price, BMW aims to eliminate geographic cost disparities, thus simplifying the buying process for customers and potentially increasing interest in its electric offerings.
