Nissan Micra EV Revealed, Features Quirky Styling & Expected To Launch By The End Of 2025 In Europe

Nissan has revealed the Micra EV. The Japanese manufacturer shared details regarding the interior and exterior of the vehicle. The sixth-generation Micra shares the AmpR Small platform with the Renault 5 EV, making it the brand’s first hatchback to launch without an ICE version.

Styling

The Nissan Micra EV seems inspired by the Nissan 20-23 EV concept. There are distinctive aspects such as circular DRLs around rectangular headlights, gloss-black body cladding, a blacked-out roof and segmented circular tail lamps. There are also silver inserts in the front bumper and upper window line, 18-inch alloy rims and column-mounted door handles.

Interior

The Micra EV features a driver-focused interior. You can see the evidence the moment you look at the centre console, which angles towards the driver. This includes the 10.1-inch infotainment screen and AC vents with controls below it.

Features

In terms of features, the Micra features an electronic parking brake, a wireless charging pad, and 48-colour ambient lighting. Quirky touches include unique upholstery and a moulded silhouette of Mount Fuji, signifying its Japanese roots. The Micra also has 326 litres of boot space.

Battery & Range

Two battery packs, 40 kWh and 52 kWh, will power the Micra. The 40 kWh battery pack produces 122 HP and 225 Nm of torque and a range of 308 Km (WLTP). The top-spec 52 kWh battery pack produces 150 HP and 245 Nm of torque and a range of 408 Km.

The larger battery enables 100 kW fast DC charging, allowing the battery to charge from 15% to 80% in 30 minutes. Both variants have vehicle-to-load (V2L) functionality, a heat pump and a battery temperature control system.

Outlook

The brand will assemble the Micra EV at its Douai plant in France. It is expected to launch in the European markets in late 2025. The Micra EV’s India launch is unconfirmed at this point. Nissan sold the fourth-generation Micra from 2010 to 2020 in the country, but it has no plans to launch the quirky EV hatchback in India.
